N.Z. life and country scenes.

                 2014 - now.

Some years ago I decided to take a look around NZ, well first the North Island to see what I could see.  The idea was to get a bunch of pictures of things and people and tie them together with an ongoing narrative, to make a kind of visual diary.  It has been a long(ish) project, with more work to it than I thought, and it is still in the works.  Here are a few pictures and examples of what I have gathered so far.  Most paintings here are either watercolour on paper or oil on canvas.

Buskers in Napier.  Of course, being Napier, they are kitted out in an Art Deco style.  I think  the music they played was very 1930 - 40s as well.

I spotted these two venerable wrecks in Paeroa.  Rust in peace...

The one and only Jim Bairns.  This guy was amazing.  He had a garage in Patea that was about a quarter of an acre in area, full of the cars he was a restoring.  Among which was a 1916 Buick, the Wollesley from 'Came a Hot Friday' and this Triumph Mayflower.  aka 'The Panelbeater's nightmare."
